Taiyo is an Irish-Japanese writer, lyricist, and composer based in London.

His musical Chosen went on a regional UK tour in 2024 as part of The Lowry’s ‘Rewrites’ programme and will continue its development with Birmingham Hippodrome in April 2025. Prior to that it was showcased at The Other Palace as part of ‘Musical Bites’ and at The Oxford Playhouse as part of ‘BEAM2023’.

His children’s musical, Layla & Captain Doom, has been selected for ‘BEAM2025’.

His short film Pretty Hands (2023) was an official selection in 27 film festivals, winning 7 of them. His short film HOME won Centerframe’s 2024 ‘Get It Made’ competition and is currently in production.

He worked as a Script Editor at Mammoth Screen before completing a playwriting course at the National Theatre and graduating from London Film School with a Master’s Degree in Screenwriting.
